At Barrett Resources, we specialize in negotiating the local political scene on our clients’ behalf. Local governments have incredible regulatory power, and it’s essential that businesses talk to the right players at the right time when making requests of those governments. Having worked in local politics and government affairs in northern Nevada for years, the Barrett Resources team can make your interaction with local governments as smooth and simple as it can possibly be.

Barrett Resources paved the way for the first medical and recreational marijuana dispensary and grow facility in Nevada. Located in the City of Sparks, the approval process required a proven liaison strategy with all departments simultaneously to make this lobbying effort successful.

Acting as government relations consultant, Barrett Resources managed the STAR Bond approval process, implemented education efforts for elected officials and conducted public information campaigns on project benefits.

At Barrett Resources, we believe that developing and maintaining a relationship with the state government is a much bigger task than lobbying the Legislature for 120 days every two years. A strong state government affairs program is a year-round process dealing with not only legislators, but also the governor’s office, department heads, and other boards and commissions. While Barrett Resources has a successful track record of lobbying the Legislature for our clients’ interests, we believe it’s the time and effort we put in between the Legislative sessions that makes that success possible.

Barrett Resources worked with one of the largest lettuce and onion producers in the world; helping lead the effort with state and federal agencies to develop a plan for rehabilitation of adjacent sites.

Representing the City of Sparks, Barrett Resources is working to get a public Lands Bill drafted for Congressional approval by identifying BLM lands that can be transferred to Washoe County, the City of Reno and the City of Sparks under the Truckee Meadows Public Land Management Act. This is effort being undertaken to provide sustainable growth to the Truckee Meadows region.
